The Marlborough Sports Awards is an opportunity to recognise excellence in our sporting community - celebrating the success of Marlborough's top athletes and to recognise one person's lifetime contribution to sport when they are awarded the Marlborough Medal.

Joseph Sullivan will be the guest speaker at the 2017 Marlborough Sports Awards.  The America's Cup-winning crewman and Olympic rowing gold medallist, labelled "The Pride of Picton" after his efforts at the 2012 London Games, will be joined on stage by TV One newsreader Peter Williams, who will MC the event.

Sullivan set a new benchmark for cross-code success when he became part of the Emirates Team New Zealand crew that wrenched the Auld Mug from the hands of Oracle Team USA skipper Jimmy Spithill in Bermuda. Himself a three-time winner of Marlborough's premier sporting accolade through his rowing accomplishments, Sullivan has an enthralling and unique story to tell.

The awards evening will take place at The Marlborough Convention Centre on Monday 20 November 2017.
